Inspiration for this song:
This song is about the time I ran away from home at the age of 17. My inspiraton for writing this song was to inspire people to keep trying despite their mistakes.  I wrote this song to encourage runaways to go back home.

Verse 1
At seventeen I thought I knew it all
so I left to make it on my own
down the highway in my Chevrolet
I set out to be a rolling stone
I called my mother from Toledo
to tell her I wasn’t coming home
I still remember what she said to me
before we got off the phone

Chorus
Whatever you’re searching for
home is where the heart is
whatever your reasons are
for leaving it doesn’t matter
wherever you may roam
you can always come back home
to where the heart is

Verse 2
I ended up in Newport, Tennessee
just a young misguided fool
the nights were cold and the days were long
for a kid dropped out of school
I had to sell everythng I had
for some food and a place to stay
I called my mother from a pay phone
and this is what she had to say

Chorus
Whatever you’re searching for
home is where the heart is
whatever your reasons are
for leaving it doesn’t matter
wherever you may roam
you can always come back home
to where the heart is

Chorus
Whatever you’re searching for
home is where the heart is
whatever your reason are
for leaving it doesn’t matter
wherever you may roam
you can always come back home

you can always come back home . . .
you can always come back home . . .
